What They Said about their steps challenge
In Shetland, we have run 5 challenges through Big Team Challenge so far. Our latest challenge was thoroughly enjoyed by our 461 active participants, making up 87 teams altogether. We virtually completed the Icons of the World route in 4 weeks, encouraging all types of activity.
From our evaluation, we found that 87% of participants were more active through the challenge and 88% reported that they were continuing to be active after it had finished. It also positively impacted mental wellbeing and motivation by 84%. Participants really liked using the App to sync their activity directly from their fitness tracker and found it motivating to compare progress against team mates and the leader board, as well as the weekly updates we sent out.
A quote a participant shared was “I enjoyed the camaraderie it created in our team; everyone was motivating one another to be more active”.
The team at Big Team Challenge are always very helpful right from the set up and throughout, and are always willing to help participants with any issues promptly.
The challenge brings lots of competitive spirit in the community and folk are always asking when the next will be! From a public health perspective, we see the challenges as a great way of improving community health and wellbeing, through increasing physical activity levels, bringing the community in Shetland together and helping folk feel more connected to one another.
Thank you Big Team Challenge
